Assignment: Diorama & Book Summary
Step-By-Step Instructions:
1. Select a fantasy book. As a class we will go to the library so you can select a book. Have your book approved by Mrs. Brophy or Ms. McDonough.
2. Read the book. On your goal sheet you will determine how many chapters you need to read each week. You will turn in a summary of the chapters you read each week. Chapter summary organizer
1st chapter summary due Nov. 2
2nd chapter summary due Nov. 9
3rd chapter summary due Nov. 16
4th and final chapter summary due Nov. 23
3. Create a diorama. Pretend your book is being sold in a book store. To catch the attention of shoppers and sell more copies of the book, create a diorama that you think would make a great window advertisement. You will need to include an important scene, character(s) from the book and a tag-line. Be sure to include the title and author somewhere in the diorama.
4. Write a one-page typed (or very neatly hand-written) summary to go with the diorama. Your summary should include the main characters, setting, problem, major events and resolution(s).
5. Turn-in both the diorama and the summary by December 8, 2009.
