Converting a fraction to a percent
Do the following steps to convert a fraction to a percent.
(Ex. convert 4/5 to a percent)
- divide the numerator of the fraction by the denominator (ex. 4 divided by 5 = 0.8)
- multiply by 100 (move the decimal 2 places to the right) (ex. 0.8 x 100 = 80)
- round the answer to the desired place value
- add a % sign to your answer
(ex. 80%)

- remove the percent sign
- make a fraction with the percent as a numerator and 100 as the denominator (ex. 83/100)
- reduce the fraction if necessary

- multiply the decimal by 100 (ex. 0.83 x 100 = 83)
- add a percent sign after the answer (ex. 83%)
